Obituary of Barbara A. Moffett

Barbara Ann Marie Moffett, 74, of Louisa Ave., West Ellicott, passed away peacefully in the home of her daughter in Pasadena, MD on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. She was born November 9, 1939 in Buffalo, NY, a daughter of the late David and Loreene Wunsch Twichell. Barbara graduated from Kenmore West High School and attended D'Youville College in Buffalo. Following college, she moved to Ashville, NY and taught third grade at the former St. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Jamestown. Three years later, she relocated to Torrance, California where she met and married her late ex-husband, Frederick Allan Moffett. Upon returning to Lakewood, NY, she was employed by Erickson's Restaurant and by Sam's Club. Barbara was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She also enjoyed sewing and crafts. She has resided at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Loreene and John Fish in Pasadena, MD for the past four years, but has spent summers at her home in West Ellicott where she enjoyed the lake and Chautauqua Institution. In addition to her daughter, surviving is a son, Frederick Allen Moffett of California; two grandchildren, John Tyler and Nichole Elizabeth Fish; two sisters, Jeanne Twichell Halaby and Deborah Twichell Kjornsburg; and a brother, Allan James Twichell. Barbara also loved her two dogs, Jack and Ben. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, David Joseph Twichell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Piotr Zaczynski will be celebrant. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Family and friends may honor Barbara's life for two hours prior to the service, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Fneral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 380 E. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750; or to Our Lady of the Chesapeake, 8325 Ventnor Rd., Pasadena, MD 21122.
