Obituary of Marion S. Newhouse

Marion S. Newhouse, 85, of 326 Delaware Avenue, died Tuesday April 29, 2014, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 6, 1928, in Buffalo, a daughter of the late John and Clara Palmer Rawson. Following graduation from South Park High School she received a degree from Deaconess School of Nursing in 1949. Prior to her retirement she was employed as a registered nurse by Jamestown General Hospital until its closing and later by Lutheran Social Services. Surviving are three daughters Nancy Newhouse of Jamestown, Barbara Newhouse of Atlanta, GA and Mary (Jeff) Halpainy of Rochester, NY; two grandchildren Marc (Rachael) Halpainy and Kristin (Chris) Halpainy, both of Rochester; a sister Dorothy Dobbins of Stockton; her "other kids" Ronald Bull of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Pamela Lodestro of Jamestown and three nephews Robert (LynDee) Dobbins, Charles Dobbins and James (Deb) Dobbins. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman Newhouse, whom she married October 23, 1952 and who died October 26, 2012. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Stockton. Friends will be received from 1-3 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
