Obituary of Charles Faison, Sr.

Charles Faison, Sr., 73, of 39 W. 11th Street, died Monday May 5, 2014, in WCA Hospital. A native of Knightdale, NC, he was born November 12, 1940, a son of the late Hudson Faison and Marie Grissom Faison Parson. He was a 1958 graduate of Jamestown High School where he was a standout baseball player. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Waste Management as a truck driver. He earlier had worked for A-Z Waste, Watson Manufacturing, Jamestown City Bus Company and for the City of Jamestown as a garbage man. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills and he loved to pitch horseshoes. Surviving are three sons Michael A. "Tony" Faison of Erie, Charles Faison, Jr., of Jamestown and Carl A. Faison; six grandchildren Tomia Faison of Erie, PA, Charles Faison III of Lawrenceville, GA, Isaiah Faison of Jamestown, Tasha Harris of Erie, PA, Patricia Graves of New York City and Candace Graves of Jamestown; sister Geneva Faison of Jamestown; sister-in-law Dorothy Pennamon Byrd and brother-in-law Frederick L. Brown both of Erie, PA; sister-in-law Eunice Mae Faison of Jamestown; aunt Ann Grissom of Jamestown; a special niece Lisa Faison of Dunkirk and her children Askiaa Faison of Dunkirk and Demetrius Goldsmith of Jamestown all of whom he helped raise and a Godson Claytoven Leeper of Jamestown. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Louise Pennamon Faison, whom he married February 24, 1962 and who died February 6, 2006; a daughter Deanna Lynn Faison; two brothers Thomas Faison and James Howie and a sister Emma Jean Mitchell. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Emmanuel Baptist Church. Rev. Leroy Walker, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
