Obituary of Carl A. Millward

Carl A. Millward, 92, of 2889 Bentley Ave. Jamestown, passed away at 6:58 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2014, in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A lifelong area resident, he was born October 14, 1921 in the Town of Ellery, NY, a son of the late Albert and Mable Crowell Millward. He was a 1939 graduate of the former Sinclairville High School and also was a graduate of Jamestown Community College. Carl was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from August 1, 1942 to October 25, 1945 during World War II in Italy and Africa. Before his retirement, he was employed as a supervisor for the former Watson Manufacturing Company where he worked for 36 years. He was a member of the Fluvanna Community Church where he served as a trustee for several years, the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, Viking Lodge #65 and the Lakewood American Legion Post #1286, American Legion. Surviving is a sister Grace Wakefield of Falconer, NY, three step-children, several step-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his caregivers Dan and Sue Wahlgren of Fluvanna. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lamar Wahlgren Millward whom he married August 23, 1947 and who died June 5, 1978, his second wife Caroline Larson Millward whom he married November 10, 1979 and who died November 12, 1999 two brothers, L. John Millward, Glenn Millward and two sisters, Lucille Holland and Allene Shepardson. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Dayle F. Keefer, pastor of the Fluvanna Community Church will officiate. Burial will be in Soldiers Circle of Lake View Cemetery.
