Elizabeth Jean Trippi, 83, of Jamestown, NY, passed into eternity on July 13, 2014, in WCA Hospital. She was born October 7, 1930 in Sheffield, Pa., to the late Edwin "Herbert" and Emma Anderson Gustafson. She graduated from the WCA School of Nursing in 1951 and worked in the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit and 3-C unit as a Registered Nurse until her retirement in 1992. She continued to volunteer as a nurse at the American Red Cross and Lutheran Social Services until recently. She faithfully attended Pilgrim Memorial United Church of Christ for 60 years where she previously served as a treasurer, deacon, and participated in the Women's Club. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, playing the organ and piano, crafts, and badminton. Moreover, she devoted herself to family and friends. She is survived by her two sons: Dr. James (Linda) Trippi of Indianapolis, IN and Michael Trippi of Fairfax Co. VA; three grandchildren: Brian, John, and Kimberly who will recall her love, caring, and generosity. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Salvatore "Sam" Trippi, whom she married June 22, 1952, and who passed away Jan. 21, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19 in the Pilgrim Memorial United Church of Christ, 70 McKinley Ave. (at Forest Ave.), Jamestown with a reception to follow. Pastor Dana Douglas will officiate. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions are encouraged for a nursing student scholarship to be established in her name.
