Obituary of Valeria Rewers

Valeria T. "Violet" Rewers, 96, of 89 Summit Avenue, Jamestown, passed away peacefully Wednesday August 6, 2014, in WCA Hospital. A resident of Jamestown since 1937, she was born December 5, 1917, in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of the late John and Josefa Zak Hojna. She was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church and was a member of its Altar and Rosary Society and funeral committee. She enjoyed distributing bulletins at Saturday Mass. She was an RSVP volunteer at Lutheran, Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame and the United Way. Surviving are two daughters Patricia Rewers and Dolores Rewers, both of Jamestown and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Casimir J. "Charlie" Rewers, whom she married May 4, 1940 in Our Lady of Loreto Church, Falconer; two brothers, Stanley and Theodore Hojna; grandparents Jozef and Barbara Lojek Zak and Karol and Malgorzatra Korcyl Chojna and uncle and aunt Joseph and Emilia Korcyl. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Rev. Dennis W. Mende will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 1:45 p.m Sunday.
