Obituary of Aiden R. Nichols

Aiden R. Nichols, 9, of 50 McKinley Ave., passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014 in his home following a 1 ½ year long battle with cancer. He was born February 15, 2005 in Jamestown and had been a student at Bush Elementary School. Aiden had been sworn in as an honorary member of the Landis, North Carolina Police Department, presently at the rank of Lieutenant. Thanks to the Make A Wish Foundation, he had traveled to New York to meet and visit with members of the Yankees, many of whom autographed a baseball for him. Aiden will be remembered for his deep blue eyes and large eyelashes. He possessed a heart of gold and it was said that there were no strangers in his life. He is survived by his mother, Heidi Barlow and father, Terry Nichols, both of Jamestown; a brother, Anthony Nichols; maternal grandmother, Jean Barlow of Kennedy; paternal grandparents, Erma and Freeman Nichols of Jamestown; a step-sister, Summer Nichols of Fredonia; and several aunts and uncles, including Tammy Johnson of Kennedy, Josh Barlow of China Grove, NC, and Lacey Barlow and Katie Barlow, both of Jamestown. Aiden is also survived by his family at the Taco Hut of Jamestown, the Landis Police Department, and the First Reformed Church of Landis who baptized him this past year. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert "Bullet" Barlow who died in 2013. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 29th in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor David Franks of the First Reformed Church in Landis, NC will officiate. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service in the funeral home.
