Obituary of Alan L. Rupp

Alan L. Rupp, 78, of 324 Stowe Street, died Monday November 3, 2014, in UPMC Hamot, Erie. He was born January 10, 1936, in Jersey City, NJ, a son of the late Louis and Blenda Lundell Rupp. He was a veteran of the US Army serving from 1959-61. Prior to his retirement in 2000, he was employed by Jamestown Precision Tooling as an inspector. He was a member of First Lutheran Church where he was active as a van driver, communion assistant and served on the property committee and formerly served on the church council. He also enjoyed time at church with the Wednesday Work Group and Thursday Men's Breakfast Group. He was a volunteer at the Scandinavian Festival and learned chip carving as part of the Scandinavian Studies Cultural Program. His other hobbies include woodworking, birding and chair caning. He was very involved in model railroading and was a member of W&P-CST and Independent Model Railroaders. Surviving are his wife, the former Marcia Adams, whom he married April 4, 1964 and two children Amy Rupp and Jeffrey (Delana) Rupp, both of Jamestown. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother H. Richard Rupp. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in First Lutheran Church. Rev. Daniel K. Nagle will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
