Obituary of Charles M. Johnson

Charles M. "Charlie" Johnson, 73, of PO Box 503, Celoron, died Tuesday November 18, 2014, in WCA Hospital. He was born February 4, 1941, in South Dayton, a son of the late Clair and Alice Woodmansee Johnson. He was a 1959 graduate of Jamestown High School. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a factory worker at Superior Jamestown, Jamestown Metal manufacturing and Crescent Tool. For many years he held at second job as a gas station attendant at several area service stations. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. He was baptized, confirmed and married in Ss Peter and Paul Church. He was a bingo worker and security guard for several years at the former Ss Peter and Paul School. He was a member of Lakewood Rod and Gun Club and former member of the Jamestown Moose Lodge. A devoted husband, he took wonderful care of his wife. He will fondly be remembered as a kind, gentle, patient man who loved his family and everyone he met. He was very giving and methodical and was an ardent fan of the Buffalo Bills. He was Carolanne's hot dog. Surviving are his wife Barbara Pavlock Johnson, whom he happily married September 17, 1960; two sons Joseph (Beryl) Johnson of West Ellicott and Robert (Nicole) Johnson of Richmond, VA; two grandchildren Cristopher (Libby) Johnson of Niagara Falls and Marc Peters of West Ellicott; a sister Ruth James of Jamestown; brother-in-law Rev. Martin L. Pavlock of Jamestown; several nieces and nephews including Cheryl Warrior and Carol Sischo, both of Jamestown and special friends Chuck Ellis and Clare Crawford. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by brothers Clair Johnson, Jr., and Carl Johnson; sister Irene Arnold; his wife's parents Joseph and Mary Pavlock; brother-in-law Robert Pavlock and special aunt Eva "Nana" Edborg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rev. Piotr Zaczynski will be celebrant. Friends will be received from 8:30-11 a.m. Monday in the church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
