Obituary of Dona L. White

Dona L. White, 93, of Jamestown, died peacefully at the Dibert Home on Saturday December 13, 2014. She was born February 22, 1921 in Jamestown, one of twin girls to D. Lawrence and Burness Olson Carlson. Dona was a 1939 graduate of Jamestown High School and a 1943 graduate of Smith College. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she served as treasurer for a number of years. Her other memberships included the Marvin Community House and the board of the former Warner Home. She loved most anything that would give her a chance to be outdoors. She was an avid horsewoman and gardener; however her greatest love was her family. Surviving are three children Ann (James) Roe III of Henderson, NV, Dr. John (Antoinette) White of Halfmoon, NY and Robert White of Bemus Point; six grandchildren Laura Roe, David (Charity) Roe, Suzanne (Michael) Jones, Samuel White, Peter White and Ann White; and four great grandchildren Zachary, Emma Grace, John and Benjamin Roe .Also surviving are her sister-in-law Suzanne Foley of Jamestown and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Herbert A. White, Jr., whom she married June 6, 1944 and who died April 21, 1999 and her twin sister Doris Kohlbacher. The family would like to thank Debbie Woodcock for her care and devotion to Dona during her stay at the Dibert Home. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
