Obituary of Adam V. LaBarbera

Adam V. LaBarbera, 89, of 47 Hedges Avenue, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014 in his home. He was born April 23, 1925 in Jamestown, a son of the late Nicholas and Edith Cuttenberg LaBarbera. Adam served in the US Army during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart. He had been employed by MRC in Jamestown for many years, retiring in 1987. Adam was always very handy; his family recalls that he could make or repair anything. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Sholin LaBarbera; five wonderful step-children: Jay Schuler, Debbie (Dan) Calkins, Kevin Schuler and Cheryl Schuler, all of Jamestown, and Mark (Karen) Schuler of North Carolina; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Ida Davis of Jamestown; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He will also be sadly missed by his cat, Angel. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Nick, Alvin, Tony and Sam LaBarbera; a sister, Carole Tucker; and two nephews, Scott and Jeff Sadler. A private family service will be held. The Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
