Obituary of Ben A. Lutgen

Ben A Lutgen, 42, of 5340 Maple Springs-Ellery Rd., Bemus Point, died unexpectedly, along with his father, Wesley, Saturday, December 27, 2014 as a result of injuries sustained in a car/ pedestrian accident that occurred Saturday evening in Maple Springs. He was born January 16, 1972 in Jamestown and was a graduate of Maple Grove Central School. A paramedic, Ben had been employed by ALSTAR. He had also worked for Lawn Ranger, the Resource Center and Maple Springs Tree Service. He was a life member of the Maple Springs Volunteer Fire Department. Ben enjoyed entertaining family and friends with his guitar and his crazy sense of humor. He is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Lutgen of Jamestown; two brothers: Tom Lutgen of Warren and Dan Lutgen of Jamestown; and four sisters: Wendy Chapman of Bemus Point, Lisa McIver of South Carolina, Becky Hughes of Florida and Dora Lutgen of Jamestown. In addition to his father, Wesley V. Lutgen who died Saturday, he was preceded in death by his mother, Caroline Dorzek Lutgen. The family will greet friends and a memorial service will be held for the Lutgens Saturday, January 3, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Maple Springs Fire Hall Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
