Obituary of Kathleen L. Spencer

Kathleen L. "Kathy" Spencer, 93, formerly of Heritage Village Retirement Campus, Gerry, NY and Lakewood, NY, passed away at 9:40 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2014, in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. An area resident for most of her life, she was the adopted daughter of the late Eric and Corinne Lofgren Bloomstrand. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School and in earlier years was employed in the offices of the former Art Metal Inc. Following the birth of her daughter she was an excellent housewife and homemaker. Surviving are a daughter; Susan (Douglas) Sandmeyer of Jamestown and a granddaughter; Stephanie (Tony) Hall of Bemus Point, NY. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Leonard E. Spencer whom she married June 8, 1946 and who died June 3, 2002 and an infant son. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Rev. Samuel Shreffler, chaplain of Heritage Green will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd. Jamestown, NY 14701 or to a charity of one's choice.
