Obituary of Beatrice G. Rininger

Beatrice "Bea" Greenwald Rininger, 91, of 2407 Bacon Road, died Saturday January 3, 2015, in WCA Hospital. An area resident all of her life, she was born June 17, 1923, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Clarence and Esther Lane Greenwald. She was the widow of Theodore Rininger, whom she married July 12, 1952 and who died June 16, 2006. She was a 1941 graduate of Jamestown High School, attended Alfred University Extension and Alfred University before graduating from SUNY Fredonia with a bachelor's degree in education. Prior to her retirement in 1981, she was employed by the Falconer School District as an elementary teacher. She earlier had worked for Southwestern Central and Frewsburg Central School Districts. Following retirement she worked as a freelance writer and writing instructor. She had hosted a writers' group in her home starting in 1983. She was instrumental in forming the Christian Writers Workshop at Camp Findley, NY. Her work had been published in numerous magazines mostly in the Christian market. She also operated Phone-A-Story for children as a Christian outreach. Bea and her husband were active in the 4-H group of their area, the Kiantone Kavaliers. She had served as a counselor at Camp Findley. She was a member of the New York State Retired Teacher Association and an active member of Busti Church of God where she served on the Administrative Board, Ministry Team and held various offices in the Women of the Church of God. Her former memberships include Chautauqua County China Painters and Stillwater United Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters Phyllis (Art) Benson of Randolph and Kathy (Kurt) Sturzenbecker of Jamestown; three grandchildren Amy Sturzenbecker of Jamestown, Sgt. First Class Matthew (Lauren) Johnson of Germany and Daniel Sturzenbecker of Jamestown; four step granddaughters Kerri(Gary) Harvey of Randolph, Karin (Tom) Donnell of Ashville, Karyl (Ivan) Bush of DuBois, WY and Kelly (Mark) Brock of San Antonio, TX; ten great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren and a brother Lester (Jeannie) Greenwald of Texas. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers C. Edward Greenwald and Donald Greenwald. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Busti Church of God. Rev. Roy E. Ferguson will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home.
