Obituary of John N. Yaggie

John N. Yaggie, 70, of Bluffton, IN, died Friday January 2, 2014, in Signature Care, Bluffton, IN. He was born October 10, 1944, in Wheeling, WV, the son of the late Norman Yaggie and Jane Baltzell Yaggie Person. He was a 1962 graduate of Jamestown High School and earned his Associates Degree from Jamestown Community College. Throughout his career, John was employed as a draftsman, beginning at Blackstone Corporation in Jamestown NY, working in Binghamton NY, Waterbury CT, Marienville PA, and Bettendorf, IA before retiring from Almco Steel Products Corporation of Bluffton Indiana in 1999. One of John's greatest passions was building things. In life, he found relaxation through completing renovation projects and working with his hands. He was skilled at woodworking, creating many items over the years including furniture and bird feeders he shared with his family. John was devoted to animals; he loved his pets Caesar, Boo and Sammi. Surviving are three children Jay (Lisa) Yaggie of Lakewood, Jim (Jackie) Yaggie of Ithaca, NY and Janelle (Eric) McDougall-Chandler of Seymore, CT; 7 grandchildren Jared, Taryn, Jack, Madison, Braelyn, Jocelyn and Cordeliablu; good friend and caregiver Virgil Kahn of Bluffton and a favorite cousin Jane Schen. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Yaggie. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Luke F. Fodor will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service Friday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Family LifeCare, 108 S.
