Obituary of Joyce H. Coleson

Joyce H. Coleson, 75, of 245 N. Allegheny Ave., W.E., Jamestown, NY, passed away unexpectedly at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015, in the emergency room of W.C.A. Hospital. An area resident for most of her life, she was born April 11, 1939 in Ripley, NY, a daughter of the late Herman Utegg, Jr. and Bernice VanVaukenburg Utegg McGerl. Prior to her retirement on July 28, 2006, she was employed by the Weber-Knapp Company for 47 years. Joyce was a member of the Herman Kent Post #777 American Legion Auxiliary and also the Lakewood-Celoron Moose Club in Celoron, NY. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her trips to the casino with her husband. Surviving are her husband of 50 years, David L. Coleson, Sr. whom she married April 11, 1964, a son, David L. (Theresa) Coleson of Jamestown, three grandchildren, Jason (Claire) Coleson, Jacob Coleson both of Jamestown, Shannon (Brandon Fiorella) Coleson of Charlotte, NC, and two great grandchildren, Parker and Riley Coleson of Jamestown. She was preceded in death by her mother Bernice McGerl who died May 12, 1997, her father, Herman Utegg, Jr. who died August 23, 2003 and a brother Robert Utegg who died September 8, 1994. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed.
