Obituary of Victor H. Whitney

Victor H. Whitney, 72, of Deland Road Randolph, passed away Sunday January 18, 2015 in his home. He was born March 25, 1942 in Bradford, PA the son of the late Kenneth Whitney and Irene Carpenter Whitney Goodnoe. Vic was a US Army Veteran serving as a Sergeant in the Infantry on tanks and weapons. He served many years in the Reserves and prior to retirement, was deployed to New York City to help at Ground Zero. He also retired from Matco Tools in Lakewood after several years. He was a member of the American Legion. Vic enjoyed hunting, fishing, dining out, going to yard sales, and solving any kind of puzzles. He was a very proud man, always thinking of others before himself. Surviving are five children, Michelle Whitney Robinson of Katy, TX; Vicki Whitney Kerr and Tim Whitney, both of Eldred, PA; Kenneth Whitney of Jamestown; Marlissa Whitney of Randolph; six step children, Deb, Katherine, Linda, Daniel, Ken, and Michael; eight grandchildren; one great granddaughter; a sister, Patricia Carlson of Portville, NY; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Audrey Carr who died February 24, 2013; two sisters, Shirley Slate and Donna Jean Herman. The family will receive friends from Noon to 2 p.m. Saturday January 24, 2015 in the Lind Funeral Home where Full Military Honors will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday. Memorials may be made to the American Legion of one's choice.
