Obituary of Betty L. Carlson

Betty Larson Carlson, 103, of Lakewood, NY passed away at home on Sunday February 8, 2015. She was born October 16, 1911, in Harplinge, Sweden, the daughter of August and Magna Person Larson. She had been employed at Jamestown Public Schools for many years. She was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church where she was active in Friendship Circle and the Ladies Bazaars. She also was a member of Busti Lakewood Golden Agers and the Salvation Army Ladies Aid. She volunteered at Lakewood Library and was an RSVP volunteer at the Lakewood Senior Citizen luncheon site until the age of 90. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, painting and crafts. She graduated from Lander High School in 1929. Surviving are two daughters, Betty A Guignon of Myrtle Beach, SC and Claire M (David) Crawford of Ashville, NY, five grandchildren: David (Tanya) Guignon of Ashville, NY, Richard (Mary Anne) Guignon of Morganton, NC, Vicki (Jerry) Costantini of Jamestown, NY, Linda Lawson of Charlotte, NC and Wendy Crawford of Jamestown, NY. Betty is also survived by eight great grandchildren: Andrew (Katie) Guignon, Jennifer (Mark) Frentz, Brandon Guignon, Kevin Costantini, Scott Costantini, Tanner Lawson, Erin (Matt) Carnes and Shannen (James) Colton. She is also survived by seven great-great grandchildren: Madison, MacKenzie and Makayla Frentz, Sean and Ava Guignon and Landon and Riley Carnes; and many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, C Martin Carlson on March 20, 1985. They had celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on March 2, 1985. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Ann B Peterson, her brother Lars O (Johnny) Larson, granddaughter Lori King, great grandson Tyler Lawson, son-in-law Larry Guignon and great-great grandson Weston Carnes. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday February 14, 2015 in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev Vi Davidson, retired pastor and Rev Nicholas Perry, pastor of Lakewood United Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday February 13, 2015 in the funeral home.
