Obituary of Ray W. Jones

Ray W. Jones, 84, of Hobe Sound, FL and Chapel Hill, NC, formerly of Jamestown, died peacefully Wednesday February 11, 2015, in his Florida home. A native of Sulpher, OK, he was born August 10, 1930, a son of the late Homer and Mary Theiste Jones. He was a graduate of Central Technical Institute, Kansas City, MO and Jamestown Community College. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan and Korea. Prior to his retirement in 1992, he was employed by MRC-SKF as a research technician and earlier had worked for General Electric in Utica. He was a former member of Stillwater United Methodist Church, Samuel Derby Post 556 American Legion and Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. He was currently a member of Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian Church, Chapel Hill, NC. Surviving are his wife the former Janet Berg, whom he married May 25, 1957; three children David Jones of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Kevin Jones of Cary, NC and Karen Breuer of Stratford, NJ; five grandchildren; a brother Ralph Jones of Choctaw, OK and a sister Louise Cagle of Cleburne, TX. He was preceded in death by a daughter Sandra Jones in 1964. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Chapel Hill, NC. Inurnment will be in Busti Cemetery.
