Obituary of Edward J. Kulig

Edward J. Kulig, 57, of Tamarac, FL, formerly of Jamestown, passed away on March 5, 2015, in Florida, after a brief illness. Ed was born on April 26, 1957, in Jamestown, a son of Jane Rippey Kulig and the late Joseph Kulig. He graduated from Southwestern Central High School in 1975, and received his Bachelor's degree from St. Bonaventure University in 1980. After college, Ed spent many years being active in Jamestown's Little Theater, both as a performer and part of the backstage crew, as well as a performer in Little Theater's Junior Guilders. In 1998, Ed moved to South Florida, to live where he didn't have to "shovel the humidity." At the time of his passing, Ed was the Post Booking Sales Supervisor for Carnival Cruise Line. Ed was bitten by the cruise bug long before joining Team Carnival, and loved exploring the different ships and seeing as many ports of call as he could. Ed often traveled by himself, making friends on every cruise, but also cruised with his family. In addition to cruising, Ed was also a Disney enthusiast, having been an Annual Passholder to Walt Disney World since 2001 and a Vacation Club Member since 2005. Ed is survived by his mother, Janet Rippey Kulig, of Jamestown; two sisters Linda (Phillip) Kent of Panama, and Vicki Kulig, of Royal Palm Beach, FL; two nephews, Scott Kent of Boynton Beach, FL, and Kyle Kent of Columbia, SC; one niece Elizabeth (Steve) Link of Brocton, NY; two grandnieces, Jessica Link and Kiarra Link, both of Brocton, NY; one aunt, Sally Lyke, of Canandaigua, NY; and several cousins. Ed is preceded in death by his father, Joseph H. Kulig, who died in 1988. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday March 17, 2015, in the Lind Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718, American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231 or Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
