Obituary of Carl E. Burt

Carl Everett Burt, 89, formerly of Horton Road Jamestown, passed away Sunday March 29, 2015 in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A lifelong area resident, he was born November 16, 1925 in Busti the son of the late Floyd and Vera Meade Burt. Carl was a US Army veteran of WWII. Prior to retirement, he was employed at Blackstone Corp. for many years. He was a member of the Falconer United Methodist Church, Ross Grange #305, and was an avid bowler. Surviving are his son, Douglas (Caren) Burt of Saugerties, NY; his daughter, Sharon (David) Rexford of Jamestown; four grandchildren, Hyla (Eric) Reed, Bryan (Sierra) Burt, David Rexford, and Jason Rexford; and two great grandchildren, Marlee Burt, and Brea Reed; and his sister in law, Marion Robert. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Torgerson Burt whom he married June 5, 1954 in Falconer, NY and who died September 11, 1993; and three brothers, Robert (Gene) Burt; Menzo "Pete" (Jean) Burt; Harland Burt; and his step mother, Marjorie Steiner Burt who died in 1977. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark J. Hinman will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
