Obituary of Lois I. Hawkins

Lois Johnson Hawkins, 89, formerly of 11 Arlington St. WE, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015 in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born July 31, 1925 in Jamestown the daughter of the late Clifford H. and Helen Jackson Johnson. Lois was a 1943 graduate of Jamestown High School and was a faithful member of her class, attending their 71st reunion last fall. In 1944, she graduated from Rider College in Trenton, NJ. Prior to retirement, she was a bookkeeper with Yaw Oil Co. In earlier years, she worked at Empire State Mutual Life Insurance Co. Lois was a member of Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church, and formerly Grace United Methodist Church. Surviving are four daughters, Nancy (William) Harvey of Jamestown; Sally (Ivan) Gurekian of Montreal; Janet (Barry) Larsen of Jamestown; Cynthia Riendeau of Lockport, NY; her "5th daughter", Ruth Muirhead of Jamestown; eight grandchildren; Kevin Harvey, Craig Harvey, Ian Gurekian (Rebecca Freedman), Christine Gurekian (Christopher Warnock), Nicole Larsen, Sabrina Blanco, Brittany Beckstrom, Kirstie Beckstrom; four great grandchildren; Owen Gurekian, Benjamin Gurekian, Lucas Warnock, and Liam Warnock. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Hawkins whom she married December 27, 1947 and who died October 11, 2002; two brothers, Robert Johnson and Clifford Johnson; and a sister, Helen "Betty" Goss. The funeral service will be held at noon Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Gerald A. Haglund will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Saturday in the funeral home.
