Obituary of Robert Wayne Colwell

Robert W. Colwell, age 65 passed away unexpectedly on May 3rd, 2015 in Rochester, NY. "Bob" as most everyone called him was born in Jamestown, NY on January 30th, 1950 to Gordon Colwell and Dorothy Smith Colwell. Bob was a graduate of the class of 1968 from Jamestown High School. He served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer stationed in Fort Devons, Massachusetts from 1969-1971. Upon returning to Jamestown, Bob started his insurance career with Combined Insurance and later went to work with Nationwide Insurance where he retired after a successful career of over twenty years in sales and management. On February 15, 1975, Bob married Carolyn V. Kratts of Jamestown, NY, the love of his life and best friend. They proudly celebrated forty years of marriage this year. Bob loved spending time with his wife, daughter, son- in -law and grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman, loved music, and possessed deep wit and an excellent sense of humor. Those who knew and loved Bob will always remember his booming voice, his boisterous laugh, and how he could command a room with his personality. Bob leaves behind siblings, Daniel (Sue) Colwell of Falconer, NY, Terry (Nancy) Colwell of Ciabolo, TX, Bobetta Gane of Bemus Point, NY, Judith (Rob) Dies of Bemus Point, NY, Randy Colwell of Jamestown, NY and Stephen Colwell of Jamestown, NY and dozens of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Bob also leaves behind his wife Carolyn of Fairport, NY, daughter Anne Colwell Colangelo of Rome, NY, son-in-law Ronald Colangelo Jr. of Rome, NY who truly was the son he never had and his grandchildren Lincoln Joseph and Natalie Juliette all of Rome, NY who were the absolute center of his world. A memorial service will be held on Friday May 8th, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Lind Funeral Home, 805 W.3rd Street Jamestown, NY. The Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in his name to the Darren Manzella-Lapeira Memorial Run, which directly benefits veterans and their families in Chautauqua County.
