Obituary of Westley F. Johnson

Westley F. Johnson, 73, of 3510 West Oak Hill Road, Jamestown, died Thursday May 14, 2015, in UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA. An area resident all of his life, he was born May 27, 1941, in Jamestown, a son of the late Westley and Viola Quist Johnson, Sr. He was a 1960 graduate of Bemus Point High School. He was a Vietnam War veteran of the US Army serving from 1964-66 and with the National Guard from1972-98. Prior to his retirement in 2002, he was employed by the Town of Ellicott Highway Department for 32 years. Wes volunteered his time to many organizations including the American Red Cross, Fluvanna Historical Society, Chautauqua County Fire Advisory Board and the Salvation Army, however, for over 43 years he served the Fluvanna community as an active member of the Fluvanna Volunteer Fire Department. His many roles in the department include fire fighter, EMT, board member, past president, chief, assistant chief, historian and liaison between the fire department and Boy Scout Troop #169. Surviving are his wife Kellyne Keeter Johnson, whom he married June of 1968; three children Westley (Jennifer) Johnson of Ellington, Kelly (Erica) Johnson of Syracuse, NY and Jane (Troy) Danielson of Medina, OH; eight grandchildren Westley Johnson IV, Dillon Johnson, Dylan and Dawson Chase, Kellan, Nathan and Morgan Johnson and Trevor Danielson; a sister Rea Bobula of Jamestown; a brother David (Marilyn) Johnson of Oak View, CA and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Fluvanna Community Church. Rev. Dayle F. Keefer will officiate. Burial will be in Fluvanna Cemetery.
