Obituary of Donna May Caldwell

Donna May Meeker Caldwell of Raeford, NC, formerly of Jamestown, NY passed away on Friday July 17, 2015 at 7:25 p.m. following a lengthy battle with cancer. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Waycross. She was born on August 27, 1943 in Kingston, PA the daughter of Marjorie May Frear Meeker and Donald Goodwin Meeker. She graduated in 1961 from Lake-Lehman High School, Lehman, PA as salutatorian of her class and also received a twelve year letter in marching band as a majorette. On May 4, 1963 she married Elmer Caldwell Jr. and they celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on May 4, 2015 in North Carolina. She had worked at Kling Furniture Co in Falconer, Maddox Table Co in Jamestown, and as manager of MRC Federal Credit Union in Jamestown. She held many positions in the Jamestown District of the New York State Credit Union League. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Herman Kent Post #777 in Celoron, NY and also their auxiliary marching unit. One of her greatest joys was working with the House of Hope in Waycross. She always enjoyed the many friendships she made along the way wherever she went. Preceding her in death were her parents, her maternal grandparents, Lotta Olive May frear Meeker, Alpha Frear, and Ellis Meeker; her paternal grandparents, Minnie Goodwin Meeker and Alonzo Meeker; her sister, Lorraine Ann Meeker who passed away in 1964; and her grandson, Joshua Lee Caldwell who passed away in February 2013. Surviving her is her loving family of husband, two sons, Jeffrey Donald (Karen) Caldwell of Newton, NC; Randy Lee (Betty Jo) Caldwell of Fayetteville, NC; six grandchildren, Nicole (Justin) Martin of Frewsburg; Lindsey Pelham Caldwell (widow of Joshua), Frewsburg, NY; Krysta, Katlyn, and Adam Caldwell of Newton, NC; Zachary Caldwell of Fayetteville, NC; five great grandchildren, Taryn Caldwell of Jamestown; Jamison and Isaiah Caldwell of Frewsburg, NY; and Mackenzie and Justin C. Martin of Frewsburg, NY; and a step grandson, James Wright of Fayetteville, NC. She was always grateful for her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and the many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark J. Hinman, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
