Obituary of Theodore O. Truver

Theodore O. "Ted" Truver, 84, of 154 Bentley Ave. Lakewood, NY, passed away Sunday August 23, 2015 in Absolut Care of Salamanca. He was born October 29, 1930 in Cooperstown, PA the son of the late Willis and Alice Brooks Truver. Ted was a US Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War and was very proud of his military service. Prior to retirement, he worked at Hope's Windows and previously at Proto Tool Corp. Ted and his brothers Bob and Paul, built a wonderful hunting camp where they along with family and friends looked forward to deer hunting season every year. He enjoyed his seafood boil with his kids and grandkids, watching western movies, and going out to breakfast every Sunday with his nephew Ronnie. Ted was a member of the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion. Surviving are three sons, Douglas (Laura) Truver of Celoron; Timothy Truver of Lakewood; Robert (Kimmie) Truver of Busti; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his brother Robert Truver of Lakewood. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Bryant Truver whom he married October 10, 1953 and who died August 3, 1997; a daughter, Marcella "Cindy" Carlson; two granddaughters, Traci Lynn Carlson and Brooklyn MacDonald; a grandson, Matthew Wasson; a sister, Ruth Johnson; and a brother, Paul R. Truver. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will received friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Lakewood Volunteer Fire Department, 37 JW Packard Blvd., Lakewood, NY 14750.
