Obituary of Dorothy C. Larson

Dorothy C. Larson, 87, of 3347 Driftwood Rd., Bemus Point, NY passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 24, 2015, in her home. A lifelong area resident, she was born July 25, 1928 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Merle and Ida Ball Forbes. Dorothy was a 1945 graduate of Falconer High School and before her retirement was employed by the Falconer Central School System as a Secretary and Teacher's Aide for 20 years. She was an active member of the Zion Covenant Church where she taught Sunday School for the little children for many years. She also was active in many of the Ladies groups at Zion. She will be remembered as a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, traveling and painting landscape scenes. While living on Driftwood Road she enjoyed many hours boating and picnicking with family and friends around Chautauqua Lake. Surviving are her children, Dawn Larson of Brecksville, OH, Daryl Larson, Laurel Haight, Taylor Larson all of Bemus Point, three grandchildren, Jacob Larson of Utica, NY, Amy (Jeremy) Shaffer of Angola, NY, Chelse (Ron Morely) Loucks of Jamestown, NY, two great grandchildren, Haylee Shaffer and Lillie Morely and her sister-in-law Carolyn Johnson of Happy Valley, OR. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Howard T. Larson whom she married June 19, 1948 and who died February 6, 2012, a sister, Doris Hall and a brother-in- law, Allan Johnson. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Rick Miller, pastor of the Zion Covenant Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Bemus Point Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
