Obituary of Elva V. West

Elva V. West, 90, formerly of Tanglewood Manor, 560 Fairmount Ave. W.E., passed away at 12:35 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2015, in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A lifelong area resident, she was born October 17, 1924 in Sherman, NY a daughter of the late Harry W. and Minnie E. Becker West. Before her retirement in 1989, she was employed by the former Jamestown Sterling Corporation for over 40 years. In earlier years she attended the Christ First United Methodist Church and was a volunteer for the Jamestown Area Meals on Wheels. She was also an avid bingo player. Surviving is a daughter, Martha (Guilermo) Langbid of CA, six nieces, 11 nephews as well as many great nieces and great nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard West, and five sisters, Marjorie Schuster, her twin sister, Eva Lindsey, Velma Morrison, Marie Destro and Maxine Schruise. The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Gerald Haglund, Chaplain of Heritage Ministries will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 101 John James Audubon Pkwy, Amherst, NY 14228.
