Obituary of George F. Hodge

George F. "Leroy Jackson" Hodge, 77, of 608 Jefferson St., formerly S. Main St., Jamestown, passed away Monday, May 9, 2016 at Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing. He was born in Jamestown on May 7, 1939, the son of the late Ervin and Lula Hannon Hardinger. "Leroy" was a musician his entire life. He played 32 different instruments and had performed all over the United States, including at The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn. In more recent years, he enjoyed playing for the residents of many local nursing homes. Surviving is a son, Matt Myers of Jamestown; and many nieces and nephews, including Douglas and Brenda Riley, and Richard Michaels of Jamestown. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Hodge; and three brothers, Arthur Hodge, Harry Hardinger and Gary Benson. The funeral will be held 3 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Samuel Shreffler will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received for two hours prior to the service, from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
