Obituary of Agostino J. Pellerino

Agostino J. "Gus" Pellerino, 78, of 13 Dearing Ave. passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016, in the Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo, NY. A lifelong area resident, he was born August 15, 1938 in Jamestown, NY the son of the late Angelo and Rose LaCola Pellerino. He was a 1956 graduate of Jamestown High School. Before his retirement he was employed as a manager for the former Quality Markets, Inc. where he worked for 27 years. In earlier years he had worked for the former Gold Star Market. He was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish at St. John Catholic Church and will be remembered for his love of music and photography. He played the trumpet in the band "Mello Tones " during the 1970's and was a big fan of Frank Sinatra. He also loved spending time with his two granddaughters. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Sarah A. Giomento Pellerino, whom he married April 25, 1964 in St. John Catholic Church, a daughter, Victoria (Angelo) Volpe of Jamestown, NY, a son, Perry A. (AnneMarie) Pellerino of Rochester, NY, two granddaughters, Gina and Genna Pellerino both of Rochester, a sister, Grace Peatman and a brother James Pellerino both of Jamestown. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, Augustine, Larry, Richard, Steven and Angelo Pellerino, and two sisters, Josephine Chimera and Anna Buffone. The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor of Holy Apostles Parish will officiate. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Hospice of Buffalo, 225 Como Park Blvd., Cheektowaga, NY 14227.
