Obituary of Thomas M. Torbjornsen

Thomas M. Torbjornsen, 60, of 633 Fairmount Ave. passed away unexpectedly at 1:25 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2016, in his home. He was born July 3, 1956 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Martin and Ruth Jones Torbjornsen. Tom was known as a real car buff and began working with cars as an auto technician and had also managed a Goodyear Store. He later owned a Mac Tool business and was also a free lance writer and a radio talk show host on the call-in radio show "Americas Car Show". He was also the author of the book "How to Make a Car Last Forever". Tom was a kind and generous father. He was his children's cheerleader, always encouraging them and supporting them with enthusiasm and a wonderful sense of humor. Above all else, helping people brought Tom the most joy. Surviving is his wife, Phyllis L. Champion Torbjornson whom he married November 11, 2008, two step-children, Kathryn Chandler (John) Sanborn of Orchard Park, NY, Thomas G. (Anne) Chandler of Indianapolis, IN, six step-grandchildren, Greyson, Weston, Miriam and Elias Sanborn, Josiah and Gracie Chandler, his previous wife, Kathleen Augustine of Jamestown and his close friends, Jennifer Raines and Mark Fanale. A memorial service for Tom will be held at a later date.
