Obituary of Elsmarie Anderson

Elsmarie Anderson, 94, formerly of Jamestown, passed away on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, in Brookdale of Lakewood, with family by her side. A native of Jamestown, she was born May 18, 1923, a daughter of the late Elmer G. and Alice Holmstrom Anderson. She had the distinction of being the first premature baby born in Jamestown to survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Anderson, who died on July 26, 1993. They were married in Salina, Kansas, Feb. 6, 1944, where he was in training before deployment to Europe during WWII. Besides her husband and parents, Elsmarie was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Malmberg in 2006, and her aunt, Ann Lager in 2013. In earlier years, she worked at Bigelow's Dept. Store. She was a member of the Allen Park Women's Club, Celoron American Legion and the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. She and her husband Bob were avid golfers locally and in Venice, Florida, where they spent their winters until his death. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Richard) McDonough of Jamestown; her granddaughter Jennifer (Matthew) Richardson of Kittanning, Pa.; her grandson Thomas (Cindy) Massey of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; her great grandchildren, Megan and Ryan Richardson of Kittanning, and Addison and Emerson Massey of Chagrin Falls. She is also survived by her nephew, Steve (Sherry) Malmberg of Lecanto, Fla., and their children Brian (Tina) Malmberg and Kimberly (Steve) Howe. Elsmarie is also survived by Kathy Welker, who was her hairdresser for 40 years and is responsible for making her always look so beautiful. Kathy was like an "adopted" second daughter to her. As per Elsmarie's wishes, there will be no visitation or service. A family memorial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Lind Funeral Home.
