Obituary of Alice L. Pickett

Alice Marie Larsen Pickett, formerly of Jamestown, passed away February 25, 2018 at 97 years of age in Cincinnati, Ohio where she had lived for the last 22 years. She was born in Warren, Pennsylvania on June 24, 1920 to the late Holm and Charlotte Larsen. Alice was a 1938 graduate of Bemus Point High where she met her husband of 57 years, Wendell. He preceded her in death in 1998, as well as her brothers Harry and Earl Larsen. Alice is survived by her two daughters, Marcia (Chuck) Hutcheson of Ashville, NY and Karen Post of Cincinnati OH; five grandchildren: Travis (Silvia) Hutcheson of Newfields, NH, Rob Hutcheson of Orlando, FL, Eric (Melissa) Hutcheson of Stuart Manor, NY, and Meredith Post and Katherine Post, both of Cincinnati; and five great grandchildren: Sophia Hutcheson, Trent Hutcheson, Harper Hutcheson, Morgan Hutcheson and Luke Hutcheson. Alice was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was proud of her Danish heritage and being a lifelong Democrat. She was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family, especially her five grandchildren, watching silly TV shows and telling colorful jokes, which always made everyone laugh. Until her final days she enjoyed her daily Manhattan, which her family attributes to her longevity. Her deadpan comments will forever be part of the memories her family has and will always remember. At her request, her remains were donated to the University of Cincinnati Medical School. Alice's family will celebrate her life this summer at her favorite place, Chautauqua Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bemus Point Public Library, 13 Main St., Bemus Point, NY, 14712; or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research at Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163.
