Obituary of Charles E. Gibson

Charles E. Gibson, 90, of Bemus Point, died Tuesday May 22, 2018, in UPMC Chautauqua WCA. He was born in Dundalk, MD, a son of the late William and Mary Davies Gibson. Moving from Apollo, PA to Jamestown in 1941, he attended Jamestown Public Schools. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War serving in the US Navy Air Corps from 1945-46 and 1950-52. Prior to his retirement in 1996, he was employed by Chautauqua County as director of data processing for 20 years. He was instrumental in spearheading the efforts for the county to purchase and utilize its first computer system. He was a member of War Vets Recreation, Lakewood Rod and Gun Club and American Legion. Surviving are two daughters Charlotte Reinbolt of Bemus Point and Mary Barker of Lakewood; three grandsons Alexander Reinbolt of Bemus Point, Patrick (Jessica) Barker of West Seneca and Christopher (Kaitlynn Mulcahy) Barker of East Aurora and a great grandson Chase Patrick Barker of West Seneca. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Erickson Gibson, whom he married June 10, 1951 and who died in 2007; two brothers Robert and William Gibson and three sisters Mildred Burkett, Wilma Thompson and Martha Nunamaker. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed.
