Obituary of Quentin W. Young

Quentin W. Young, 89, formerly of 3881 Dutch Hollow Road, Bemus Point NY and 907 Prendergast Avenue, Jamestown, NY entered the gates of heaven Saturday June 9, 2018, in Rolling Fields Eldercare Community, Conneautville, PA. A native of Hastings, PA, he was born August 1, 1928, one of the thirteen children born to James and Lucy Gray Young. He was a veteran of the US Army serving from 1950-52 stationed in Germany during the Korean War. In his earlier years he was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Jamestown Roofing from 1956-91 as a roofing foreman. He was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish Ss Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Jamestown Moose Lodge. He was a past president of Roofers Local 145, coached Little League Baseball and volunteered for Catholic Charities for many years. Quentin was an avid fisherman and card player. He was also a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He enjoyed time spent with his family around the card table, family gatherings and vacationing to the mountains. Quentin will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. His strength, honesty and unwavering love for his family was apparent and observed through his life. His passing comes as a great loss to his entire family. He will be sadly missed by all those who loved him. Surviving are his beloved wife, the former Grace Still of 63 years, whom he married October 16, 1954; four children Lance (Jackie Gothard) Young and Nancy (Joseph) Johnson both of Greensboro, NC, Julie (Lance) Schamback of Advance, NC and Karen (Stephen) LaTone of Bemus Point, NY with whom Quentin made his home; eleven grandchildren Kelly Benamati, Lance (Amanda) Young, of Greensboro, NC, Catherine (Timothy) Stahlman and Sarah (Matthew) Wilkins of Jamestown, NY, Kyle (Grace) Buffone of Norfolk, VA, Adam (Britini) Buffone of Crestview, FL, Rachel (John) Fredrickson and Molly LaTone of Bemus Point, NY, Meghan LaTone of Brooklyn, NY and Joseph (Bethany) Johnson and Ashleigh (Kyle) Jackle of Greensboro, NC ; fourteen great grandchildren; a sister Lois Stockton of Erie, PA and a brother Joseph Young of Geneseo, NY. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers Charles, James and Alfred Young and seven sisters Mary Kurtak, Miriam Onorato, Shirley Ruggerio, Loretta Dzeskewicz, Olean Heimbach, Delores Thrall and Lucy Young. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in SS Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
