Obituary of Martha L. Anderson

Martha L. Anderson, 88, of 115 Emory Drive, Jamestown, passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 in her home surrounded by her children. She was the widow of James W. Anderson, whom she married September 12, 1951 and who died May 3, 2009. A Jamestown native, Martha was born July 26, 1930, a daughter of the late William H. and Sarah Armitage Lausterer. She attended House In The Pines in Norton, MA, graduated in 1949 from National Cathedral School in Washington, D.C. and attended Simmons Junior College in Garland, MA. Martha belonged to First Presbyterian Church, the WCA Auxiliary and was one of the longest members of Creche, Inc. In earlier years, she was an avid tennis player and active in several tennis leagues. Martha loved cooking and enjoyed preparing and sharing many elegant meals with family and good friends. She is survived by three children: Beth (Thomas) Todaro of Westerville, OH, Jane Anderson of Columbus, OH and Thomas (Debbie) Anderson of Jamestown; two grandchildren: Christopher and Sarah Todaro, both of Westerville; and two great-granddaughters: Kaylee and Emily Marcum. In addition to her parents and husband, James, Martha was preceded in death by a brother, William J. Lausterer and sister, Julia Ann Carlson. A private family graveside service will be held in Lake View Cemetery. The Rev. Robert J. Hagel, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Visitation will not be observed.
