Obituary of Lorena L. Smith

Lorena L. "Bea" Smith, 62, of 224 Price St., Jamestown, passed away Friday, April 26, 2019 in the comfort of her home with her family by her side. She was born August 12, 1956 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Wilfred W. and Doris R. Bassett Walburg. Bea had worked as program director at the Jamestown YWCA for many years and more recently at the Dollar Tree store in Jamestown. She was also a very successful salesperson for Avon and a leading representative in her district for several years. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout Troop leader, volunteered with 'Girls In The Middle', and was active in the S. G. Love School PTA where all four of her children attended. Bea was an avid gardener who loved working in her yard. Her award winning gardens were recognized several times by the City of Jamestown. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Edward Smith, Jr.; four children: Brandi M. Marsh of North Carolina, Jessica L. Smith of Jamestown, Lindsey Smith of North Carolina and Jeremy E. Smith of Florida; and four grandchildren: Porter M. Smith-Taylor, Spencer D., Carter O. and Drew M. Roggenbaum. Also surviving is a sister, Gail Mitchell and brother, Robert Walburg, both of Jamestown; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra A. Anderson on January 7, 2019. A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, May 4 at the New Covenant Assembly. Rev. Trevor Colburn and Pastor William Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until noon on Saturday for one hour prior to the service.
