Obituary of Ronna H. Lipsey

Ronna Mae (Head) Lipsey, 75, of Lakewood, formerly of Bemus Point, passed away Thursday June 27, 2019 in UPMC Chautauqua Hospital. She was born June 24, 1944 in Wellsville, NY the oldest child of Ronald E. and Marna Potter Head. She attended Wellsville Public Schools until 1954, then Bemus Point Central Schools until graduation in 1962. Ronna graduated from the State University of New York Cortland in 1966 with a degree in Physical Education, then from St. Bonaventure University with a Master's Degree in Student Guidance and Personnel. Ronna taught Phys Ed at Jamestown High School for 34 years including several years as Assistant Principal. During her tenure at JHS she coached synchronized swimming, cheerleading, and girls basketball. She also was Advisor to Student Council, "J" Club, Honor Society, and served on the Student of the Month selection committee. In 1980, she was selected to "Who's Who Amongst American Educators". Ronna was a member of the Bemus Point United Methodist for over 60 years having served on numerous committees. She started and developed, along with David Wood the Little Hoopers program and coached for 9 years; started and developed the Town of Ellery Summer Recreational Program; and served as President and Secretary of the Bemus Point Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary for many years. She is survived by four daughters: Shae (Robert) Comstock of Colorado Springs, CO; Dr. Kellie (Robert) Reed of Honeoye Falls, NY; Elizabeth "Lesa" (Chad) Catlett of Staunton, VA; Nicole (Greggory) Przepiora of Chardon, OH; a brother: C. Raymond (Lucy) Head of Bemus Point, NY; grandchildren: Carter and Hudson Reed, Madison and Alyssa Catlett, Xaxier South, Alyssa and Addison Comstock, Owen, Avery, and Emmett Przepiora; a nephew Corey (Melissa) Head of Avon Lake, OH; and a niece Jennifer Head of Bemus Point, NY. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Evan Przepiora. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday June 29, 2019 in the Lind Funeral Home. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bemus Point Volunteer Fire Department or the Bemus Point Public Library.
