Obituary of Devere B. Patterson

Devere B. "Red" Patterson, 66, of Jamestown, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019, in UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA. A lifelong area resident, he was born October 25, 1952 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Roland and Bertha Warden Patterson. Before his retirement he was employed by Hopes Windows for several years where he worked in the shipping department. In previous years he had worked for the former Dahlstrom Manufacturing Company until the plant closing and also for Larson Metal Devere was an avid musician and will be remembered as an excellent guitar and drum player. He played in several local bands over the years including "Happy Days" and also enjoyed playing in the Salvation Army Band. He will also be remembered for his model cars, his collection of Hot Wheel cars and for being a coffee connoisseur and couldn't go a day without a hot cup of coffee from home or from wherever he visited. He loved spending time with his family and eating good food. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Paula Johnson Patterson whom he married April 25, 1970, his four children; Tina (Paul Desnerck) Patterson of Falconer, NY, Shawn (Dawn Freeman) Patterson, Krista (James Colburn) Miller-Patterson, Alicia Patterson all of Jamestown, seven grandchildren; Jessica (Nick) Crick, Gabriel Miller, Dakota (Tareek) Paulisick, Shawn (Paige) Patterson, Salyna (Cameron) Patterson, Toby Patterson, Alexis Patterson, and three great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Luella Auge. The family would like to extend a big thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of UPMC Hamot Medical Center for their excellent care and concern for Devere over the past several weeks. The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Tara Lamont Eastman, pastor of the Tree of Life Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6-8 pm Monday and for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday in the funeral home.
