Obituary of Minnette Elder

Minnette Elder, 82, of 1056 Forest Avenue Extension, died Tuesday July 2, 2019, in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing. A proud Texas native, she was born September 22, 1936, in Kilgore, TX, a daughter of the late Frank and Gretta Treadwell Elder, Jr. Following graduation from Kilgore High School, she received a degree from Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, TX and a master's degree from North Texas State University. Prior to her retirement she was employed by Jamestown Public Schools as a physical education teacher at Lincoln Junior High School form 1968-91. She was an avid golfer and had won club championships at Meadowbrook Country Club, Kilgore, TX, Shallow Creek Country Club, Longview, TX and Conewango Country Club and Jackson Valley Country Club, both in Warren, PA. Surviving are a sister Meriam Eakin of Tyler, TX; a brother Frank Elder III of Longview, TX and her longtime friend Patricia DuBois of Jamestown. In keeping with Minnette's wishes, no funeral service or visitation will be observed. Inurnment will be in Kilgore, TX. Memorials may be made to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care, 20 W.
