Joyce G. Bell, 74, of Jamestown, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, in UPMC Chautauqua. A lifelong area resident, she was born February 3, 1945 in Dunkirk, NY, a daughter of the late Reginald D. and Laura Tanner Gardinier. She was a graduate of Dunkirk High School and attended the Doyle School of Beauty in Buffalo, NY, to become a beautician. For over 45 years she owned and operated Joyce's Beauty Shop from her home where she garnered many longtime friendships. She was a member of the Christ First United Methodist Church and loved cooking, baking and taking care of her family. She was especially known for her delicious Christmas cookies and homemade rolls. She will be remembered as one who always put the cares and concerns of others before her own and never said a bad word about anyone. She was a hard worker and a loving and caring wife and mother. She loved having her son's, daughter-in-laws and grandchildren at her home as a family. She was also an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, John W. "Jack" Bell, whom she married December 18, 1965, her three sons; Timothy J. (Deanna) Bell of Canandaigua, NY, Matthew D. Bell, Nicholas A. (Katie) Bell both of Jamestown, five grandchildren; Jaclyn, Lauren, Ashley Bell of Canandaigua, Gia and Leo Bell of Jamestown. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Mark A. Bell, who passed away on March 24, 1987 and her two brothers; Glenn and Alvin Gardinier. The funeral will be held at 11:00 am Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Susan Hadley, pastor of Christ First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
