Obituary of Mary Ellen Scott

Mary Ellen Scott, 93, of 35 Marvin Avenue, Lakewood, died Tuesday January 7, 2020 in Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing. She was born in Dunkirk on July 31, 1926, the daughter of the late George and Mabel Dickenson Dorler and moved to Jamestown with her family as a young child. She was a 1944 graduate of Jamestown High School. Prior to her retirement she was employed by Southwestern Central School as a secretary to the middle school principal. For many years she volunteered at the Audubon Community Nature Center and the Lakewood Memorial Library. She enjoyed knitting, cross stitching, reading and spent many hours playing cribbage with her neighborhood friend, Jean. Surviving are three children Jennifer (Robert) Schlick of Jamestown, Yvonne (Joao) Falcao of Palm Bay, FL and Don (Adrean) Scott, JR. of Dunkirk; honorary son Bill (Cindy) Jackson of Lakewood and six grandchildren Emily (Phil) Garrick, Madeline Schlick, Nicole (Carl) Liberatore, Tyler Falcao, Christopher (Rhiannon) Scott-Vercant and Spencer Scott. She was preceded in death by her husband Don A. Scott, whom she married October 16, 1948 and who died September 1, 2000; a son Martin Scott; grandson Karl Schlick and two brothers George and Larry Dorler. The memorial service, officiated by Michelle Buhite, will be held at 6 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
