Obituary of Gladys C. Morse

Gladys C. Morse, 92 of 128 Aldren Ave., passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on Nov. 5, 1927, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Rolf and Ruth McCollough Carlson. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School. She received her associates degree from Jamestown Community College, her nurse practitioner degree from the University of Rochester, and her registered nursing degree from the WCA School of Nursing. Before retirement, she worked at Dr. John Voltman's office and had also worked many years in the maternity department at WCA Hospital, and a few years for Dr. Hefner. Gladys was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church for many years. She enjoyed Scandinavian studies, painting, knitting, reading, tai chi, playing pinochle, was a member of a book club, and a member of a group of ladies that all lived on the Lutheran campus that made quilts and blankets for charity and referred to themselves as the "Cover Girls." Gladys is survived by her daughter Cheryl (Dann) Gulvin of Westfield, a granddaughter Lindsey Morse of Raleigh, NC, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Morse, whom passed away on Oct. 23, 2015, a son Stanley Morse, and a sister Carol Epperson on Nov. 17, 2019. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, 2020 in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, Chaplain of the Lutheran Home, will officiate. Burial will be Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1-3 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W.
