Angeline Bellomo

Obituary of Angeline M. Bellomo

Angeline M. Vitanza Bellomo, 90, of 2109 Southwestern Drive, Lakewood, NY, formerly of 10 Prather Ave. Jamestown, NY, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2020, in the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A lifelong area resident, she was born April 10, 1929 in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Joseph and Angeline Agostino Vitanza, Sr. Before her retirement years, Angie was a beautician for over 60 years at the Charm Salon in downtown Jamestown. She always enjoyed the profession and cherished the many close relationships she came to hold dear in her heart. To her it was more than just doing hair, she was a friend, counselor, and a companion to many of her customers. Angie was the family matriarch. There was nothing she cherished more than her family. She was a loving and caring Ma, Grandma, Nonnie, and Aunt. She had a special bond with everyone in her family. She had a way of making everyone she came in contact with feel special and loved. At Sunday family dinners, there was always an empty plate ready in case someone stopped by for spaghetti and meatballs. Everyone at least once in their life should be loved by someone like Angie. She taught us what unconditional love means and how important family really is. She always said, "Life is what you make of it, so make it a good one". She will be greatly missed by everyone, but we know she will always be with us. Surviving are her two children; son, Jack (Jennie) Bellomo of Summerville, SC, daughter, Joanne Buelow of Johnstown, NY, four grandchildren; Janelle Bellomo of Summerville, SC, Jonathan (Kristen) Bellomo of Kenmore, NY, Jaclyn (Steve) Buelow, Mark Buelow both of Gloversville, NY, three great grandchildren; Jocelyn Angeline Bellomo of Summerville, SC, Camden and Roman Bellomo of Kenmore, NY, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack J. Bellomo whom she married October 1, 1949 in St. James Catholic Church and who died June 2, 2002, four brothers, Carl, John, Thomas and Joseph Vitanza, a sister, Frances Vitanza Baglia and a grandson, Steve Durand, whom she was affectionately known as "Sugar". Due to restrictions on public gatherings caused by the coronavirus outbreak, no service or visitation will be observed. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Foundation at www.stjude.org/donate.
