Obituary of Charles L. Turcotte

Charles L. Turcotte, 90, of Lutheran Social Services (formerly of Lakewood) passed away peacefully Wednesday 04/08/2020. He was born in Cleveland Ohio, April 16, 1929 and graduated from Binghamton High School 1947 and graduated from George Washington University with a BS in Foreign Affairs 1951. He enlisted in the Airforce and was in the fighter pilot training program until 1953. After an honorable discharge from the service he met the love of his life, Helen Micozzi of East Rainelle WV and were married in 1955, living and working in Alexandria Virginia until 1972 (Helen preceded Charles in death in 1972) at which time he moved to Lakewood NY. Charles is survived by his four children, Susan Kamiler (Jerry, Albany), Alice Woodard (Herb, Frewsburg), Louis Turcotte (Julie, Ashville) and Mathew Turcotte (Buffalo) as well as seven grandchildren (Hannah White, Abigail Tedone, Adam and Helaina Turcotte, Anna, Paige and Brooks Turcotte) He is preceded in death by his brother Robert Turcotte of Bloomfield, CT. Charles worked for the Manufacturers Association of the Jamestown Area as the Executive Vice President until retirement in 1994. He also ran the Chamber of Commerce simultaneously for 10 years. Charles was a staunch advocate for Western New York's manufacturing community and emphasized the vital link between education and a strong workforce. Appointed by Governor Cuomo to the Advisory Committee, Office of Business Permits and Regulatory Affairs Certificate of National Recognition, US Dept. Housing and Urban Development He was a true historian in his own right and an avid reader. He enjoyed discussing politics and wood working, shooting, home building/remodeling, horses and anything that flew! In his later years he enjoyed listening to his grandchildren's adventures and cheered them on! Charles is now at peace with his wife Helen and his life is safe in Jesus.
