Obituary of Frederick R. Persell

Frederick R. Persell, 88, of 74 Adams Street, died Tuesday April 28, 2020, in his home. A Jamestown native, he was born March 22, 1932, the son of the late Frederick and Florence Hambleton Persell. He was a 1950 graduate of Jamestown High School and later graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Pharmacy. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army from 1954-56. For many years he owned and operated Davis Drug Store as pharmacist and prior to retiring in 1991 worked for Rite Aid Pharmacy. He enjoyed time spent on, around and watching Chautauqua Lake. Surviving are his wife Donna Anderson Persell, whom he married August2, 1958; three children Frederick (Julia) Persell III of Pasadena, MD, Kathleen (Mark) Beckett of Windermere, FL and Julie (Michael) Smith of Mentor, OH; eight grandchildren Joshua (Rachel) Stinchcomb, Lauren (Richard) Thom, Andrew Beckett, Carrie Persell, Frederick Persell IV, Hallie Persell, Ryan Smith and Robby Smith; three great grandchildren Ben Thom, Jackson Thom and Ethan Stinchcomb and a sister Carolyn Hall of Jamestown. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Mary Ann Mustari. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
