Obituary of Angelo S. Bonta

Angelo S. "Ange" Bonta, 93, of 842 North Main St. Jamestown, NY, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020, in UPMC Chautauqua. A lifelong area resident, he was born August 18, 1927 in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late Charles and Francesca Crucilla Bonta. Angelo was a 1945 graduate of Jamestown High School and also Jamestown Business College. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. Angelo was proud to be a part of the Buffalo Niagara Honor Flight and enjoyed his trip to Washington DC and was honored to be recognized as a World War II veteran by the Buffalo Bills. In 1950, Angelo worked as a machinist for the Marlin Rockwell Corporation. In 1951, he entered the advertising specialty sales field and for the next 19 years he held many positions with several leading firms. In 1969, Angelo became a factory sales representative for Whirley Industries in Warren, Pa. In 1974, he founded the A.S.B. Industries, Inc., manufacturing "coin- catcher banks". Following a brief retirement he then formed the Bonta Sales Company, fully retiring in 2006 due to ill health. Angelo was an original member of the Jamestown Boys Club in 1939 and later served 16 years as a board member and currently a member of the Boys Club Alumni Club. He was a charter member of the Jamestown Sertoma Club and a member of the American Legion. During the 1950's, he served as a scoutmaster for the St. James Boy Scout Troop and was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. He will be remembered as a very positive and upbeat type of person. He loved to tell you a joke, either good, bad or sometimes inappropriate. He loved and valued time with his family and enjoyed meeting his friends for coffee. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Angelo is survived by a daughter, Francesca Mae Bonta, a son, Charles Bonta both of Jamestown, six grandchildren, Danielle (William) Russell, of Russell, PA, Alysha Bonta of FL, Charley (Amy) Bonta, Bradley (Amy) Swanson, Alex Swanson all of Jamestown, Chad (Stephanie) Bonta of FL, and 13 great grandchildren.. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant brothers A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed. Inurnment will be in the Lake View Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Buffalo Niagara Honor Flight, P.O. Box 426, Clarence, NY 14031.
