Obituary of Ethel L. Frangione

Ethel L. Frangione, 95, of 321 Superior St., passed away Friday morning, April 16, 2021 at UPMC Chautauqua. She was the widow of Frank J. Frangione whom she married May 25, 1946 and who died October 9, 1980. Ethel was born in the Town of Carroll on August 18, 1925, one of seven children of the late Ray and Myrtie Wright Bridenbaker. A graduate of Jamestown High School, she was employed for 30 years by Union National, retiring in 1990 as an expediter. Following retirement, she was a caregiver for family and friends. Ethel was a member of Holy Apostles Parish, St. John Church. She was formerly a volunteer at WCA Hospital and as an avid bowler, enjoyed bowling in a number of bowling leagues over the years. She was also a devoted knitter, knitting many mittens for school children and lap robes for area nursing homes. Surviving are two daughters, Linda (John) Johnis of Smithtown, Long Island and Jean Shiffer of Jamestown, and a son, James R. (Marcia) Frangione of Lakewood, NY; three grandchildren: Melissa (Thomas) Cornell of Raleigh, NC, Ashley (Daniel) Peterson of Russell, PA and Michael Johnis of Smithtown; five great-grandchildren: Maximus Peterson, Lincoln Peterson, Alexander Cornell, Carina Cornell and Raven Peterson; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Frank, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Hester Beckman, Autumn Crandall, Helen Haggmark and Florence Butcher; and two brothers, Edward and George Bridenbaker. Following Ethel's wishes, no service or visitation will be observed. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
