Obituary of Gary E. Servis

Gary E. Servis, 83, of Bemus Point, NY, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. He was born May 26, 1938 ,in Glens Falls, NY, a son of the late Millard E. and Helen Herrington Servis. Gary was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School and attended Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from January 26, 1962 to January 24, 1964 and served in the Army Reserves until 1968. Before his retirement, he was the co-owner of Tri-Point Layout, Inc., a surveying company in Schenectady, NY. He came to Bemus Point during the construction of the Veterans Memorial Bridge and decided to move here and raise his family in Bemus Point. He was a member and former commissioner of the Maple Springs Fire Department, a member of the Ellery Post Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Randolph American Legion, the Moose Lodge and was very active as an officer in the Sleepy Hollow Sharpshooters Hunting Club. He also loved spending time at his camp in the Adirondack Mountains and being outdoors. Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Mary D. MacDonald Servis whom he married April 11, 1968, in Montreal Québec Canada, his two children, MacDonald "Mac" Servis of Bemus Point. NY, Alexis (Chris) Teixeira of Sommerville, MA. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Clayton. The Servis family would like to thank their many friends and Bayview neighbors for their friendship and support over the years. A private graveside service will be held in Bemus Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Maple Springs Fire Department or the Bemus Point Fire Department.
