Obituary of John A. Hanson

John "Jack" A. Hanson of 4128 Dutch Hollow Road, Bemus Point, N. Y. died on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. He was born July 17, 1933, in Jamestown, N.Y. the son of the late Hans E. & Edith Peterson Hanson. Jack graduated from Bemus Point High School in 1952 and attended the Institute of Lettering & Design in Chicago. Il. He served in the 62nd Military Police-Highway Patrol in Bad Kreuznach, Germany during the Korean Conflict from 1953-55 and was discharged as a corporal in 1955. He was self employed at Hanson Sign & Screen Processing Corp. until he retired. He was an avid carver of birds, giving many away to his children. He was a builder of model airplanes and belonged to the Flying Aces & the Button Valley Bombers Airplane Clubs. He was also a member of the War Vets Recreational Club, the VFW of Ellery Center, Lakewood Rod & Gun and a "lifetime member" of Johnny's Lunch.. He is survived by his wife Mardell R. Hanson, two daughters, Jodell (James) Cheney & Amy Tellinghuisen (Roger) of Bemus Point, N.Y., a son, Jon C. Hanson (Allison) of Concord, Ohio; two grandchildren: Jack & Carly Hanson of Concord, Ohio, a nephew: James (Sue) Hanson, Bemus Point, N.Y., nieces: Susan Kelemen, Bemus Point, N. Y., Sally McMillian, Conneaut Lake, Pa. & Sonya Hanson, San Antonio, Texas. He is preceded in death by his brother, Robert M. Hanson, Bemus Point, NY, who died on November 18, 2020. The family wishes to thank Jack's caregivers Rose Clark, Debbie Reading, Deborah Johnson, Shelby Storms, Beth Matthews, Kathy Whitcomb, and David Swartz for their attention to his needs.
